Our Youth Ocean Leader roles are designed to empower young people to take meaningful action for the ocean while building confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of community. All roles are fully supervised and age-appropriate.

The Youth Ocean Leader Programme empowers young people to take meaningful action for the ocean while building confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills. Through monthly beach and ocean clean-ups, participants learn conservation in action — supported every step of the way by Chloe Blue instructors.

Junior Youth Ocean Leader
Ages 12-14
Role Focus
Building confidence, teamwork, and ocean awareness through hands-on participation and learning by doing.
This role is ideal for younger youth who love the ocean and want to get involved in conservation in a supportive, guided environment.
🌍 Key Responsibilities As a Junior Youth Ocean Leader, you will: Assist during beach and ocean clean-up events Help welcome participants and create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere Support simple conservation activities (e.g. sorting litter, learning about marine debris) Work alongside instructors and Senior Youth Leaders Act as a positive role model for younger participants 🧭 Support & Supervision High level of supervision at all times Mentoring from Chloe Blue instructors Buddy system with peers and Senior Youth Leaders No responsibility for safety or instruction 🌟 What You’ll Gain Confidence working in a team A deeper connection to the ocean Recognised volunteer hours A pathway into Senior Youth Leadership roles
Senior Youth Ocean Leader
Ages 15-18
Role Focus
Developing leadership, responsibility, and organisation skills while actively supporting ocean conservation initiatives.
This role is ideal for experienced, motivated youth ready to take on more responsibility and mentor others.
🌍 Key Responsibilities As a Senior Youth Ocean Leader, you will: Support the planning and running of clean-up events Assist with safety and conservation briefings (under instructor guidance) Mentor and support Junior Youth Ocean Leaders Help record and log debris data (e.g. PADI AWARE / citizen science) Represent Chloe Blue as a Youth Ocean Ambassador Encourage positive behaviour, teamwork, and ocean stewardship 🧭 Support & Supervision Guided leadership with clear boundaries Ongoing mentoring from Chloe Blue instructors Real responsibility, but never instructor-level duties Leadership opportunities tailored to experience and confidence 🌟 What You’ll Gain Leadership and mentoring experience Recognised volunteer hours (CAS / DofE friendly) Conservation and citizen-science skills A clear pathway towards Gold Youth Ocean Leader recognition Early exposure to future roles (Divemaster, Instructor, Conservation Intern) 🌊 Shared Values Across Both Roles All Youth Ocean Leaders are expected to: Treat others with kindness and respect Follow safety instructions at all times Care for marine life and the environment Represent Chloe Blue’s community-led, ocean-first values
